Definition

These data represent the number and percent of babies born at low birth-weights. Low birth-weight is defined as a birth in which the newborn child weighs less than 5.5 pounds (2,500 grams). Incidences greater than 0 and less than 5 are often not reported, and instead are listed as N.A. (not available).

The percentages are calculated by the Department of Health Services. These data may have been influenced by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, starting in 2020.
