Why This Indicator Matters
Early literacy is the engagement of reading activities for children under the age of four. Building a child’s early literacy skills can have benefits for brain stimulation, positive self-image, and higher-level thinking. Current knowledge about early literacy understands that it can be the foundation of academic achievement. Risk factors for not implementing early literacy include short attention spans; children with low reading skills frequently struggle with academic, emotional, and social challenges.
