Why This Indicator Matters

Home visiting programs, like Maine Families provide children and families critical support during the key developmental years, strengthening families and communities across the entire state. Home visiting programs are voluntary, evidence-based and designed to help promote healthy childhood development during the early years by providing expectant parents and parents of young children with education and support in their home. For more information on the evidence for Home Visiting, see Evidence for Home Visiting   Maine Home Visiting uses the Parent as Teachers model.

Notes

The data from prior years has been revised to match the organization's annual report and count only families that completed a visit for their child or children rather than families for whom a visit was scheduled.

Data from Maine Families Home Visiting is included.  Home visits by State Public Health Nurses or agencies contracted to do state public health nursing are not included in the measure, nor is Early Head Start Home Visiting.
