Early Head Start and Head Start Slots
The number of Early Head Start/Head Start slots in each county as of August 2024 for the 2023-2024 program year. Head Start grantees served a total 12,436 children aged birth to five years in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms. Head Start and Early Head Start programs are federally funded programs, with no cost to families that are designed to promote family engagement as well as school readiness for children from low-income families. Early Head Start serves pregnant women and families with children under age 3. Head Start programs serve children between 3 and 5 years old. Program options available can include: center-based, home-based, migrant and seasonal, and family care.
