Number of children enrolled in preschool (PK3) and pre-kindergarten (PK4) by school type.
Data Source
Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) Annual Pre-Kindergarten Reports for older years. Starting with 2020-21 data were based on performance oversight responses. A significant number of children were enrolled in pre-K, but with an unknown ward, leading to a discrepancy between the District-wide total and the number of children enrolled across ward (1823 in 2020-21 and 1604 in 2021-22).
Note that 2019-20 data were updated December 2021 to reflect the data in the FY20 fiscal year report. Previously data from this school year were based on performance oversight responses and did not reflect charter school capacity because OSSE said those data were not provided to them due to COVID-19 restrictions.
