Definition
This data is broken down into three categories: (1) Total Youth – the total number of youth having interactions with the juvenile justice system. This only appears the first time the youth shows up in the data to avoid being counted multiple times for multiple offenses. (2) Total Cases – counts the number of interactions youth had during the year which could be more than one for an individual youth. (3) Total Referrals – counts the number of referrals (offenses) committed during the year. A single case could have multiple offenses.
