Definition and Source
PROVIDER
Definition
Percent of students meeting or exceeding expectations in reading or math on the Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) or DC CAPE assessments (starting in spring 2024 the test was renamed DC CAPE as the PARCC Consortium no longer existed)
Data Source
Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). In spring 2020 and spring 2021 assessments were not given due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the data jump from 2019 to 2022. Students in DCPS and some charter school did continue to be given "formative" assessments intended to help their teachers see where they were at. EmpowerK12 used the results of those assessments to do a series of briefs about how students were doing academically in 2020 and 2021 (available at https://www.empowerk12.org/research-source/covid-impact-achievement-dc), but because not all students took the assessments they do not paint a complete picture of student performance across the District.
