(Number) Children exiting foster care
(Percent) Exit mode as a percentage of all children exiting. In recent years CFSA has also reported the number of children exiting foster care via emancipation or the child living with other relatives (not through CFSA custody) (and, much less commonly, death of the child or transfer to another DC agency). For consistency with older data the percentages reported here only reflect children exiting foster care through either guardianship, adoption, or reunification and not any child exiting through one of the newer categories.

Data Source
CFSA data dashboard. CFSA began using a new data system, the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (STAAND), in 2025. During the transition, some information did not transfer perfectly, which has affected the accuracy of certain data. As new data is reviewed, CFSA will identify and fix any issues found. Updated FY25 information will appear here based on any CFSA updates.
