Child race and ethnicity: U.S. Census Bureau, 2000, 2010, and 2020 in Connecticut

This indicator reports the percentage of children under the age of 18 who fall into the racial and ethnic categories designated by the U.S. Census. Where Census data is used, racial and ethnic categories refer to the categories self-reported by the head of the household or individual Census respondent. Respondents may report more than one racial group, and people of any racial group may also report any ethnic origin.

The specified race/ethnicity of children under the age of 18 as a percentage of all children in a town or county within Connecticut. The racial/ethnic categories reported are: 1) White 2)  Black 3) Asian 4) Other Race Alone 5) Two or More Races and 6) Hispanic or Latino. Racial group counts are for children identified as non-Hispanic. Those who identify as "Two or more races" may have also identified as Hispanic.
