These data represent the number and percent of children experiencing extreme poverty conditions (living in families with incomes below 50% of the poverty level). The percentage is the total number of people under age 18
experiencing extreme poverty conditions at below 50% of the poverty level, divided by the child population for which poverty status is known. These data are five-year averages.
