Definition

Children under 18 receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by age group by federal fiscal year. SNAP, formerly the Food Stamp program, provides in-kind benefits to families and individuals in need. The income eligibility limit is 130% of the federal poverty level.

Notes

For FY 2020, the number of children receiving SNAP account for only the pre-pandemic period for October 2019 through February 2020 from the fiscal year 2020. 

The data source has not published new data for this indicator for years after FY 2020, but the indicator will be updated on the KIDS COUNT Data Center if or when new data are released. Until then, these data may provide useful historical information for those working in this field.
