Notes

At a state and county level, this indicator is a rate per 1,000 females ages 15-19 based on a three-year average.  The rate is calculated as 1,000 times the number of teen births to mothers ages 15-19 divided by the total number of females ages 15-19.  The base population for this indicator is the total number of females ages 15-19.  National data is calculated in the same manner but is based on only one year.
