Definition
The number and percent of children younger than age 18 who received federally-funded food coupons under Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during a year. Estimates are based on monthly averages for a state fiscal year (July - June).
Data Source
The Tennessee Department of Human Services provided Families First figures. Population data were collected from the Division of Population Health Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission of Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates.

*The Tennessee Department of Human Services submitted corrected counts for 2001 and 2002. Corrected values for 2001 and 2002 are shown, effective March 29, 2005.
