Notes
Starting with data for 2011, rates are based on the Census 2010
population. Previous years are based on the Census 2000 population. This
change should be noted when looking at trends over time. For data reported for 1998 through 2010, the denominator is the number of girls ages 15 to 17 as reported by Census 2000. The denominator for previous years is the number of girls ages 15 to 17 according to the 1990 Census. The year indicated is the mid-year of a five-year period of data. Data are reported by the mother's place of residence, not the place of the infant's birth.
