Children approved for free or reduced-price lunch in Arizona

Definition and Source

Data represent the number of school children approved for free or reduced price school lunches during the school year ending in the year indicated.

Arizona Department of Education discontinued reporting county level data in 2007.

Due to limited data in 2020, HNS did not publish the SY 20-21 Free and Reduced-Price Percentage Report.

Due to USDA COVID-19 waivers in 2021, a majority of schools elected to operate the NSLP Seamless
Summer Option (SSO) that removes the requirement to collect student eligibility and provides
meals at no charge to all participants. Schools operating under SSO will only report the total
number of participants and the total number of meals served each month. Therefore, HNS will
not have access to the number of children who are certified for free or reduced-price meals
for the current year through monthly claim.
