Definition

Number of arrestees aged 10 to 17 years in Tennessee Incident-Based Reporting System (TIBRS) data, by type of offense (all offense types, crimes against persons, crimes against property, crimes against society), with a rate per 100,000 children agee 10 to 17 years.

Data Source

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, TIBRS arrestee data (Group A arrests by age, race and sex); Census Bureau population estimates for the rate.

Notes

Counts arrests (arrestees), not offenses or children; one person can be counted more than once, and by more than one offense type. All offense types includes Group B arrests, so the three crime categories add to slightly less than All.

N/A = the county has no arrest data for that year (the agency did not report). If the county reported any arrests, a type with none is 0.

The rate uses Census Bureau population estimates for July 1; it starts in 2020, the first year with single-year-of-age county population.

Counts depend on how many law enforcement agencies in the county reported to TIBRS that year, so changes over time can reflect changes in reporting.
