PROVIDER

Definition

Percent of on-time public high school graduates (four years and a summer) who enroll in a postsecondary institution, as reported by the Department of Education. Postsecondary institutions include four-year institutions, community colleges and technical colleges.

Data Source

Tennessee Department of Education, Postsecondary Enrollment (college going rates).

Notes

Alvin C. York Institute, a state-run school, is excluded. Specialized schools (for example for the blind or deaf) are not included.

The year refers to the spring year of the school year (2024-25 is shown as 2025).

The Department of Education suppresses results for fewer than 10 students and percentages below 1% (or above 99%); suppressed values are left blank, not estimated.

Definition change in 2023: files through 2022 count enrollment in the fall immediately after graduation; the 2023 file counts enrollment in the summer, fall or subsequent spring term, so 2023 is not comparable with earlier years.
