Definition

This indicator provides population estimates on children and youth under age 20 broken down by racial categories.  Race category includes both Hispanics and Non-Hispanics. Data were collected from the U. S. Census Bureau, Population Division. The Kids Count Division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates. Rate is the percentage over total population under age 20.

Notes

Data (from age 0 to 17) from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) beyond 2020 were no longer available. The current series provides population data for ages 0 to 19 by race category.
