Definition

Operating expenditures include current expenditures per LEA financial report (excluding student body education, adult education); U.S.D.A. commodity value; and state level program and administrative expenses. Some examples are instructional materials, maintenance, and transportation. Expenditures are reported in constant dollars (to respective school year), based on the Consumer Price Index.

Data Source

Department Reports (Table 50), Tennessee Department of Education. The Kids Count division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district level data to county data using basic statistical tools. 

Notes

State special schools are excluded.
