Why This Indicator Matters

The majority of our state’s public high school students who go on to college attend a public college or university in Massachusetts. Students attending public campuses are significantly more likely than those attending private ones to live and work in Massachusetts after graduation, contributing to our communities and our economy over the long-term. Students of color, low-income students, and students with disabilities are more likely to be attending public colleges and universities.
