PROVIDER
Definition
Percentage of public high school students who report a given incident or behavior.
Data Source
Virgin Islands Youth Risk Behavior Survey (VI-YRBS)
Notes
Data are based on responses by a percentage (63% in 2007) of all students in the territory's four public high schools. Thus, the data are not reflective of all youth in this age group. For example, research shows that out-of-school youth are more likely than youth attending school to engage in the majority of health-risk behaviors.
Indicators for students who did not attend school for safety reasons and who carried a weapon on school property refer to the past 30 days. All other indicators refer to the past year.
