This is point-in-time data from August of each fiscal year and is generally accepted as being representative of monthly enrollment.

As part of the Affordable Care Act, CHIP clients under 133% FPL were moved to Medicaid beginning in January 2014. The decrease in 2014 and 2015 numbers reflects that transition process. See "Medicaid Enrollment" for the corresponding increase.

2021-2022 numbers may be significantly different due to changes caused by COVID-19.
