Why This Indicator Matters

Significant new findings have surfaced that have stressed the important benefits of children’s relationships with their grandparents -- for both sides. Emotionally close ties between grandparents and grandchildren has shown to reduce stress symptoms for both groups. While close grandparent-grandchildren relationships are often a marker of strong family tie, it can be challenging for grandparents to meet the needs of a child amidst their own potential health and stability concerns.
