The number and percent of births to women who received inadequate prenatal care.

Notes

Based on Kessner Index criteria, care is deemed inadequate if the mother never received prenatal care, care began in the 3rd trimester, if care included 4 or fewer visits for a pregnancy of 34 or more weeks, 3 or fewer for a pregnancy of 32-33 weeks, 2 or fewer for a pregnancy of 30-31 weeks, one or fewer for a pregnancy of 22-29 weeks, or no visits for a pregnancy of 17-21 weeks.
