Why This Indicator Matters

For nearly 20 years, thousands of 3- and 4-year-olds in New Jersey’s poorest communities have benefited from a high-quality early learning experience. As part of two New Jersey Supreme Court decisions, the state was required to provide quality preschool in 31 low-income towns so that young children had the best opportunity to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.  Research shows that children who attend quality preschool are more likely to succeed in school and in life.
