PROVIDER

Definition

A 5-year average of deaths of live born infants under 1 year of age, per 1,000 live births.

Data Source

Wyoming Department of Health, Vital Records Services

Notes

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advocate for the suppression of rates and counts when the number of incidents used to compute the rates, in this case infant deaths, are small. This is because rates calculated using a small number of incidents tend to be unreliable. In order to prevent misinterpretation of the data, rates are not shown if infant death counts over the 5 year period are below five.
