Why This Indicator Matters

NAEP is the only test that measures what students know and can do in various subjects across all states and some urban districts. That allows for comparisons for how well DC schools are preparing their students compared to schools in other states.

Because of space restrictions, labels were shortened. Black indicates "Black, non-Hispanic" and White indicates "White, non-Hispanic." 

N/A indicates years where no test was given or score is not available.

No accommodations permitted for the following tests:
Fourth grade reading in 1992 and 1994.
Fourth grade math in 1992 and 1996. 
Eighth grade reading in 1994 and 1998. 
Eighth grade math in 1990, 1992 and 1996.
