Definition

This indicator represents the number of deaths occurring to infants less than 1 year of age, as recorded on death certificates during the five year time span. Infant mortality rate is calculated as the number of infant deaths per 1,000 live births that occurred during the five year time span.

Notes

GEOGRAPHY - Data are reported by the infant’s place of residence rather than the location of death.
DATE - Calendar Year (January 1 - December 31).
