Due to USDA COVID-19 waivers in 2021, a majority of schools elected to operate the NSLP Seamless
Summer Option (SSO) that removes the requirement to collect student eligibility and provides
meals at no charge to all participants. Schools operating under SSO will only report the total
number of participants and the total number of meals served each month. Therefore, HNS will
not have access to the number of children who are certified for free or reduced-price meals
for the current year through monthly claim.
