Definition
The number of Medicaid children ages 1 to 2, confirmed to have a blood lead level of greater than or equal to five micrograms per deciliter (≥5ug/dl), as determined by a capillary or venous blood test. Results 4.5 – 4.9 µg/dL are rounded up and considered an elevated result.
The percent is based on the number of Medicaid children ages 1 to 2 tested for lead.

In September 2019, new lead data was received from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program for the years 2014-2018. Due to changes in data processing from MDHHS that changed counts for both testing and confirmed cases, data for 2014-2018 should not be compared to years 2010-2013.
Department policy requires all counts between 1 and 5 to be suppressed. Percents are suppressed if there were fewer than 6 children for statistical reliability purposes.
