Definition
Of all children who were victims of substantiated or indicated abuse or neglect during the first 12 months of the reporting year, the percentage who did not experience another incident of substantiated or indicated abuse or neglect within a 12-month period. Because recurrence is measured for a year after the reporting year, there is inherently a lag in when these data can become available.
