Definition

Number of children ages 0 to 18 who are recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The percentage reported is for how many children are recipients of SNAP out of all 0 to 18 year olds.

The denominator for the percentage is the total population ages 0 through 18 in respective geographic areas for the matching year. Not all children ages 0 through 18 in the population are eligible for SNAP and this percentage does not represent a percent enrolled who are eligible.

Notes

GEOGRAPHY - Data reflect the child's place of residence.
DATE - Data is for the month of June as a snapshot of the state fiscal year end.
NOTES - SNAP recipient data are published ahead of the percentage since population estimates lag by one year before publication. NA means data is not available or waiting on population estimates to calculate the most recent year's percent.
