Definition

Number and percentage of children enrolled in the NM PreK program by race or ethnicity and by school year (SY).  For example, in SY 2017-2018, nearly 56% of the children enrolled were Hispanic.

New Mexico PreK is a voluntary program administered jointly by the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) and the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD).

Notes

Middle Eastern ethnicity data are not available (NA) prior to SY 2015-2016. The race and ethnicity designations are those used in reports by the PED and CYFD and do not necessarily coincide with those used by the U.S. Census.
In SY2017-2018 approximately 8.1% of PED and CYFD participants declined to identify their ethnicity or identified with "other" category or a category not listed.
