Definition

The number of deaths from all causes for young adults ages 18 to 24. It is an annual average for the three-year periods ending in the year listed. The rate is the number of deaths per 100,000 young adults ages 18 to 24 (three-year average) during the periods based on the person’s county of residence. Starting in 2019, rates are suppressed with an "S" for counts fewer than an average of 2 for the three-year period. Prior to 2019, rates were suppressed by the state of Michigan for counts fewer than 5. Rates are suppressed to maintain reliability.
