Definition

Juvenile offenders are categorized as either delinquents or status offenders. A delinquent offense is a violation of a law which would be considered a crime if committed by an adult. A status offense is an act, which if committed by an adult, is not designated as a crime under state or federal law, or municipal and county ordinance.
