Child Count data on disabilities includes individuals age 3 through 21. This information is obtained from the Special Education Child Count conducted every December to determine age, placement alternatives, and disabling conditions for children with special needs. The number presented represents the total children with disabling conditions in South Dakota. Child Count data does not include data from private or Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) schools but does include Chapter I state operated/state supported programs.
