Definition

This indicator shows the rate per 100,000 of deaths by suicide for youth ages 10 to 19. It is based on 5-year averages where 2022 represents data for 2018-2022 averaged and 2021 represents data for the years 2017-2021 and so forth.  If you or anyone you know are struggling with thoughts of suicide, call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.

Notes

Rate is based on small number of cases and should be interpreted with caution. Data has been suppressed to preserve confidentiality. Maine CDC revised their rules to suppress both numbers and rates for sub-state level such as counties when the number is less than 6. This is reflected in data from 2016-2020 and forward.
