In Maine, the most recent 5-year average annual child and teen suicide rate for age 10 -19 was 8.3 per 100,000 in 2017-2021 compared to 7.6 per 100,000 for 2012-2016. At the county level, Penobscot and York had nine suicides of youth ages 10 -19 between 2017-2021. By rate, Washington, Oxford and Hancock had the highest rates, above 14 per 100,000 youth.

This indicator shows the rate per 100,000 of deaths by suicide for youth ages 10 -19. It is based on 5-year averages where 2021 represents data for 2017-2021 averaged and 2020 represents data for the years 2016-2020 and so forth. Notes
Rate is based on small number of cases and should be interpreted with caution. Data has been suppressed to preserve confidentiality. Maine CDC revised their rules to suppress both numbers and rates for sub-state level such as counties when the number is less than 6.
