Definition

Tennessee's Early Intervention System (TEIS) is Tennessee's Program for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities (Part C of IDEA). Part C of IDEA is a federal grant program that assists states in operating a comprehensive statewide program of early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities, ages birth through two (2) years and their families. 

Data reflect the number of children ages 0 to 2 participated in TEIS. Rate is per 1,000 population of same age group.

Data Source

Data on number of children are collected from Resource Mapping data system provided by the Tennessee Department of Education. Population data are supplied by the Office of Healthcare Statistics, Division of Policy, Planning and Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health.  KIDS COUNT reorganized the data and calculated the rates.
