Definition

Individuals of all ages living at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level. 

Data Source

The U.S. Census Bureau, Small Area Estimates Branch is used for child poverty below 100%.  The other child poverty measures use ACS 5 year estimates.  It is advised not to compare this indicator to the other child poverty indicators due to the difference in soure.

The percentage reflects the total number of ages below 100% of the total child population for that locality.

Notes

In 2018, the U.S. Census Bureau defined the poverty level as a combined annual income of $25,700 for a family of four. 

Bedford City ended its independent city status as of July 1, 2013.  Data for Bedford City is included in Bedford County for 2014 and beyond.
