Definition

The number of births to mothers who smoked during pregnancy (from the new birth certificate, used in Michigan beginning in July 2007).

This is a two-year average for 2009 and a three year average for 2010 and later. The percent is based on total live births. An "S" for the percent indicates fewer than an average of two occurrences over the three-year period. Percents are suppressed for reliability.
