Definition

Number and percent of infants and children under 5 years of age who were certified for WIC program during a state fiscal year. This is a Tennessee Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infant, and Children (WIC). Certification is defined as an infant or children participant who was certified to receive WIC benefits. Data relate to State Fiscal Year (July-June).

Data Source

Count data were supplied by the Division of Family Health and Wellness. Tennessee Department of Health. Population data were from the Office of Healthcare Statistics, Tennessee Department of Health. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates.

Notes

Estimates by county were calculated from WIC's Legacy and TNWIC systems, as Tennessee began its transition to EBT during SFY2018.
2020 rates are based on 2019 population data.
