Definition
The number of child care providers as of September of the year listed. The number of child care providers is broken down into each of the three license types: Child care centers, family homes, and group homes.

- Family home and group home licenses allow for supervision of smalller numbers of unrelated children. The licensee is a permanent resident of the home where child care supervision is conducted. Family homes allow for supervision of 1-6 children, while group homes allow for supervision of 7-12 children.
- Center licenses allow for a greater number of children to be supervised in a commercial or otherwise non-residential environment. Licensed capacity in centers is determined by a combination of square footage, the number of child care staff, and the age(s) of the children enrolled.
