Data Source

Hawaii State Department of Education. "School Status and Improvement Report" (SSIR), various districts. Accountability Section, Assessment and Accountability Branch, Office of Strategy, Innovation and Performance, Honolulu, HI. Accessed on June 27, 2025.

Special schools (e.g., Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind) and charter schools are excluded from the estimates due to missing data.

Due to a change in methodology of the DOE starting in 2010, data for on time graduation rate from the DOE for years pior to 2010 cannot be compared to estimates for 2010 and later.

Education indicators are based on HI DOE data provided by the School Status and Improvement Reports (SSIR) and Trend Reports. Data from the SSIR are aggregated from the school level to the county and state levels, while data from the Trend Reports are aggregated from the complex level to the county and state levels.

Data provided in Hawaii Department of Education’s School Status and Improvement Reports (SSIR) are used to calculate this indicator. In 2025, modifications were made to the presentation of data used to estimate the school-level denominators, impacting the overall procedure to calculate this indicator. The most current series presents data based on new procedures, retroactively to 2020. While the discrepancies may be very minor, we do not recommend comparisons between series estimates.
