Definition

Number and percent of students in grades PK-12 attending a public school where more than 75% of children qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Public school children qualify for free meals if their family's income is less than 130 percent of the federal poverty level. Public school children qualify for reduced-price meals if their family's income is less than 185 percent of the federal poverty level.

Notes

New data suppression guidelines implemented by the Colorado Department of Education have limited the ability to calculate new data for this indicator in recent years. The indicator will be updated on the KIDS COUNT Data Center if or when new data are released that allow for the necessary calculations to be completed. Until then, these data may provide useful historical information for those working in this field.
