Definition

Unduplicated number of children younger than age 18 who were brought to juvenile court during a given calendar year. The rate reflects the referred children as percent of same age population.

Data Source

Referral counts were collected from the annual report published at Tennessee Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (TCJFCJ) website. Population data were derived from the division of Policy, Health Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth calculated the rates.

Notes

Sullivan County includes Sullivan Divisions I and II, along with Bristol. Washington County data  include Johnson City Courts data. In 2003, the Davidson County Court supplied its own data.
