Definition

Data represent the percentage of students from 3rd to 8th grade who achieved Proficient or Advanced TCAP score in math during a school year. The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) is the standardized testing program used in public school in Tennessee. The TCAP achievement test is a timed, multiple choice assessment that measures skills in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.

Data Source

The TCAP scores by school district were from the Tennessee Department of Education. Kids Count division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district level data to county level using basic statistical methods.

Notes

Due to the suspension of testing in grade 3-8 no accountability determinations were made for the 2015-16 school year. From 2016-17 the TCAP tests were replaced by TNReady tests. These data are available in Kids Count data center as new indicators: "3rd to 8th grade TNReady score"
State special schools are not included.
