Definition
The percentage of households with children birth to age 17 who reported that in the past seven days that children sometimes or often were not eating enough because the household could not afford enough food. Only those respondents who reported that the household had food insufficiency in the past seven days and who provided a valid response are included. Food insufficient households include those who reported that they had enough to eat but not always the kinds of food they wanted to eat and those who sometimes or often did not have enough to eat.
